Your Hunter Valley Wedding Planner

23 Mar

10th Edition Celebration

Last night we were invited to celebrate the 10th edition of Your Hunter Valley Wedding Planner alongside Sueellyn Connolly and her wonderful team.

Suellyn married in the Hunter Valley in 2005 and saw a gap in the market for a wedding magazine to help local and destination brides plan their perfect day, so, Your Hunter Valley Wedding Planner was created.

Wandin Valley Estate provided the venue, food and wine. GG Events treated us to a perfectly styled event, A La Mode created gorgeous floral arrangements and Hello Naomi put together a dessert table to die for with display pieces provided by Lily & Bramwell.

Even though we were there to celebrate we were also there for a good cause – Heal for Life Foundation, an organisation that helps people who have been through childhood trauma and abuse. Businesses throughout the Hunter Valley generously donated prizes to be raffled and auctioned off which allowed Suellyn and her team to raise enough funds to put 10 people through the Heal for Life program.

We  had a wonderful evening catching up with and meeting new people, it truly was a night to remember for the wedding world!

Spotlight On: Suzy O’Rourke Millinery

Suzy O’Rourke Millinery

Working from her salon/studio in Sydney, Suzy O’Rourke is the woman who handcrafts luxurious headpieces for brides to adorn on their wedding day.

Your headpiece is the second most important item on your wedding style list right under selecting your gown. Your headpiece is a statement piece and while it is important for your personal style to be reflected, you must choose with care because, like your gown you will be wearing it all day.

Suzy O’Rourke has a stunning bridal range or for the bold bride we suggest her Gilt Collection 2012. You can also collaborate with Suzy to design a custom headpiece.

Finally, remember to store your headpiece correctly after your wedding. It is essential that you treat it with care like your gown and store it properly.

We would like to say a big Thank You to Suzy O’Rourke for allowing us to write a piece on her beautiful millinery work and for permitting us to use photo’s from her website.

The Daily Collective: Cheese Table

3 Mar

The Cheese Table

We both have a sweet tooth and think more is more when it comes to dessert, but, not everyone is mad for dessert like us so we thought we should show you the cheese table.

When planning your cheese table do the same as you would when planning a dessert table, choose one or two cheeses you and your sweetheart enjoy then choose a selected range of cheeses that will be crowd pleasers.

Cheese loves company so serve it alongside different types of crackers and breads, muscatels, dried figs and apricots, slices of fresh pear and apple and offer condiments like quince paste, honey and a spiced chutney.

Also, remember that not everyone enjoys cheese so consider serving petite fours at the end of the evening with tea and coffee.

The Daily Collective: Ombre`

The Ombre` Effect

The ombrè effect is taking the wedding world by storm at the moment. Everything from gowns to invitations and flowers are getting the ombrè treatment.

For those of you who are new to the ombrè effect it is essentially taking a colour in its darkest shade and graduating down to the palest shade or even until it fades to white.

We heart this trend in a big way because you can either use this effect throughout selected areas of your wedding or just take one piece like your gown or wedding cake and make a dramatic statement with colour.

The Daily Collective: Vintage Nautical Inspiration

Hello Sailor… Vintage Nautical Inspiration

Here on the Central Coast we are surrounded by the most gorgeous rugged coastline and this inspired our vintage nautical inspiration board.

Colour palette options are endless, you can pair a deep navy with driftwood grey, gold paired with navy and crisp white or our personal favourite, navy, salmon and antique white.

The vintage nautical theme is the glamorous cousin of the typical beach theme and would work perfectly on our sandy shores!
